Sofia, Bulgaria's
capital, is a cosmopolitan city. Like any other European capital
it is the hub
of the country's political, business and cultural
life, and the centre of various international events. There are many
theatres, an Opera, an Operetta, concert halls, cinemas, museums
and galleries. Sofia offers an excellent opportunity for international
congresses, symposia, meetings, conferences and fairs. Special business
centers and deluxe hotels are in the proximity of the bustling city
center. The five, four and three-star Sofia hotels offer good conditions
for business, rest and entertainment. Tranquillity seekers can choose
from among the numerous small private hotels in Sofia's suburbs and
enjoy excellent service in addition to home comfort and traditional
Bulgarian hospitality. Shopping in Sofia is quite an experience.
Shining shops offer design clothes, small antique shops, private
art galleries displaying icons, modern art and jewels, music shops
and shops for traditional crafts feast the eyes. Most restaurants
in Sofia serve European and Bulgarian cuisine. A visit to a tavern
is a must. They entertain with folk music, songs and dances in addition
to a menu of delicious typically Bulgarian dishes and a choice of
drinks. Each night in Sofia is a thrilling experience. An option
is a concert,
opera or theatre. Jazz and rock clubs or piano bars are also there.
Disco fans will find Sofia discos as good as any in Europe. Night
clubs have a variety of shows in the small hours. Casinos in Sofia
don't close before dawn. |

Bourgas is the fourth
largest city in Bulgaria, situated in the south-eastern part of the
country. The climate there is temperately continental with a distinct
impact from the Black Sea. The town is an industrial centre too.
It is not as famous as a beach resort (although you can find a few
beaches), but more as a turning point to the big southern
Black
Sea
resorts
in Bulgaria like Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Pomorie etc. The Airport
of Bourgas receives international flights in the
summer.
The Port of Bourgas is the biggest sea port in the country. A
Duty Free Zone was established in 1989 with the objective to create
the most attractive conditions for foreign investors. The favourable
geographical location and advanced transport infrastructure of
Bourgas are good prerequisites for development of tourism and trade.
Art and culture, together with
propagation of cultural values is fostered by 7 state-owned and
11 municipal institutes. On the territory of Bourgas municipality
there are 2 universities and 4 colleges comprising more than 6200
Bulgarian and foreign students. Bourgas is not only an important
industrial centre in the country, also has considerable resources
for tourism. The city is a starting point for visiting the seaside
resorts in the area. The sea attracts a multitude of locals and tourists
each year.

The resort Pomorie possesses
a unique natural landscape which makes it an attractive place for
year-round recreation and treatment of various diseases. The town
of Pomorie
(about 14 500 inhabitants) is situated on a narrow rocky peninsula,
jutting out 3,5 km in The Black Sea, 20 km away from Bourgas and
18 km away from the resort Sunny Beach.
The seashore is low, sandy, with a fully open horizon to the east
and to the west. It is defended to the north from the Balkan mountain.
The beach line covers an area of 18 700 sq. m. It is 4 200 m long
and its sand is rich in iron. The shallow and flat coastal line,
bottom of the sea, with a slight slope and the cold sea currents
make it safe for children and inexperienced swimmers.
The resort Pomorie has over 60 000 beds category 3, 4
and 5 stars, in family pensions (hotels), hotels with all the facilities
for a quiet family recreation, many establishments for quick
eating and indoor swimming pool. Comfortable transport junctions
connect Pomorie with other towns and resorts. The airport is only
8 km
away.
The Pomorie Bay is preferred for yachting and sailing and the
pier - for amateur fishermen, together with the traditional means
of livelihood of the local population - wine-growing, wine-producing,
production of salt, fishing and tourism. The vicinity of the resort Sunny Beach and the regional centre
Bourgas widen the possibilities for entertainment.

Varna is a district town,
situated on Varna Bay on the Black Sea, 469 km north-east of Sofia
- a seaside
resort. Population of over 350 000.It is third in population after
Sofia and Plovdiv, called the seaside capital of Bulgaria. It has
terminal station
on the railway lines Sofia-Varna and Rouse-Varna, a sea port, which
is an international airport which is second in traffic after Sofia.
The gem of the Bulgarian Black Sea is situated at the end of the
big Varna Bay, with a convenient and well conserved water area.
The city's peculiar sea charm is sublime and moving. Ancient, medieval,
renaissance and modern cultures mingle and coexist throughout the
city. Varna lies on the same latitude of the famous Atlantic resorts
Bayonne and Biarritz in France, on a large, flat and high terrace
on the north-western most curve of the bay, which juts some 7 km
inland. The sea is amazingly calm and free of dangerous tides. Apart from being a beach resort, Varna rivals the great cities
of Sofia and Plovdiv, in its offering of cultural attractions and
historical buildings, museums and art galleries.
